As Time Goes By

"As Time Goes By" (30 x 40 oil on panel) is one of my personal favorites. Another allegory, the painting represents life, aging and passage into the next realm.

To Live Another Day

This is another older painting (2007). "To Live Another Day" (La Taqueria)(40 x 30 oil on panel) is more than just the rendering of an old building in the late afternoon. It is an allegory. It represents a new life emerging from the demise of an old one. It represents a rebirth of spirit and purpose.

Just This Side of Cold Beer, New Mexico

This is a fairly recent painting. "Just This Side of Cold Beer, New Mexico" (29 x 24 oil on panel).

For me, this painting depicts the heart and soul of Americana - big sky, the open highway and the spirit of discovery. The title and the background landscape come from a stretch of US 64 between Cimmaron and Raton, New Mexico.

For What It's Worth

"For What It's Worth" (30 x 40, oil on panel) started out as a painting of just my old fatigue shirt. Then came my medals and an old peace sign patch that I wore on my jeans (a long time ago) and the painting changed course and became a statement on current events. I used my VFW cap and one of my old black and white GI photos to balance the composition.

For me, old neon signs and motor inns are the epitome of Americana. I prefer to depict them in daylight and close up to reveal the weathering, the age and the true beauty.
